Don't tell mom! - Margaret Cho brings her 'Mother' stage show to the Moore this fall

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

MARGARET CHO
THE MOORE THEATRE
November 16

This time, Margaret Cho is coming to us. After performing to a sold-out audience last spring at Tulalip Resort Casino, the comedian-actress will appear for a one-night concert in downtown Seattle. Fans will have the opportunity to experience her new production, 'Mother,' which she previewed at the casino, though the show has been tweaked since then.

Cho, in a February 1 interview with Seattle Gay News, described 'Mother' as being about her own mom, but also about mother-like pop icons like Madonna, Lady Gaga, and such fallen idols as Amy Winehouse and Whitney Houston. Thus far the reviews have been stellar, the show earning praise from critics from as far away as Australia and Paris. In press notes, the performance is further explained as 'a complicated and completely original take on sex, Queer politics, drugs, guns, identity, and madness, proving time and time again that boundaries uncrossed are meaningless.'

The Emmy and Grammy-nominated entertainer is always busy. When she's not starring on the Lifetime sitcom Drop Dead Diva, or guest-hosting on The View, or co-developing her own YouTube series In Transition, she's working on fresh material to take on the road. Additionally, Cho has teamed up with funnyman Jim Short for an iTunes podcast series titled Monsters of Talk, which has included visits by Tegan and Sara, Billy Bragg, and Lee Tergesen.

When Cho mentioned in her interview with me six months ago that she'd bring 'Mother' to Seattle, she wasn't lying. Tickets, priced between $29.50 and $49.50, are on sale now at LiveNation.com, STGpresents.org, and at both the Paramount and Moore Theatre box offices.
