Here come the Scots! Franz Ferdinand road-tripping to Seattle on spring tour

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer Glasgow rockers Franz Ferdinand are headed to Seattle next spring, a concert that will indeed sell out faster than you can name the title of their latest single. (It's 'Bullet,' by the way.) The 2004 Mercury Music Prize winners will perform April 24 at The Showbox SoDo, a bigger space than when they slipped through the Emerald City late in 2012 at The Showbox Market. Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action is the fourth studio album from Franz Ferdinand, who exploded onto the music scene nearly 10 years ago with the international hit 'Take Me Out.' That song will most definitely be on the set list, as will 'Ulysses,' 'The Dark of the Matinee,' and 'No You Girls.' I'm crossing my fingers for 'Love Illumination,' 'Outsiders,' and 'You're the Reason I'm Leaving.' Tickets, priced at $34, are now on sale. Get them quick! More on Franz Ferdinand in the coming months - stay glued.

Arcade Fire are so damn good. They've never made a bad album, and their newest release, Reflektor, is a jewel. The Canadian-American band will embark on a major North American jaunt in March that runs all the way to late August, including a date at The Gorge Amphitheatre on August 8. The multi-person act will introduce fans to material from Reflektor, but you know they're gonna pull out 'Rebellion (Lies),' 'Ready to Start,' 'No Cars Go,' and 'Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains).' Arcade Fire performed on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live and followed that with the half-hour special Here Comes the Night Time, directed by Roman Coppola with cameos from Ben Stiller, Bill Hader, and Seattle native Rainn Wilson. The Montreal-based group won the Album of the Year Grammy a few years back for The Suburbs. Tickets for all dates of 'The Reflektor Tour' are now on sale via Live Nation (www.livenation.com).

Young the Giant returns for back-to-back concerts on April 5 and 6 at The Showbox Market. If the band name doesn't sound familiar, perhaps their single 'Cough Syrup' rings a bell, sung by Darren Criss in Season 3 of Glee when a football player tries to commit suicide after being outed. The California five-piece scored a previous hit with the track 'My Body,' also from their self-titled album. After much anticipation, Young the Giant will release their sophomore effort, Mind Over Matter, on January 14. Tickets priced at $29.50 ($32 day of show) are now on sale at www.stgpresents.org. Group drummer François Comtois interviewed with SGN two years ago.

Elsewhere, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are coming back for another Seattle performance, slated to play The Paramount Theatre on July 2. The John Butler Trio slides into the Moore Theatre on February 14, Glasvegas performs at Columbia City Theater on February 28, En Vogue returns to Dimitriou's Jazz Alley on February 27 through March 2, and The Milk Carton Kids are booked at the Neptune Theatre on June 11.
