World AIDS Day

On November 30, youth and young adults from in and around Seattle, WA, working with the Multicultural HIV/AIDS Network, performed four flash mob dances with choreography from 22-year-old Jonathan Williams, from 1 to 3 p.m. The purpose of the flash mob was to call attention to World AIDS Day, observed each year on December 1.

The youth joined Social Outreach Seattle (SOSea) and Seattle HIV/AIDS Vaccine Trials Unit to get the word out that a cure still hasn't been found and that we can't give up now. It is up to each one of us to continue to the fight.

The youth performed two flash mobs at Westlake Center (near the mall entrance), one in front of Macy's and another in front of Nordstrom. A sizable and enthusiastic crowd formed each time to cheer on the young dancers.

During the month of November, Neighbours Nightclub (1509 Broadway) opened its doors early and allowed the youth to rehearse in their space, ensuring that the choreography was learned.

SOSea was proud to sponsor this event with Multicultural HIV/AIDS Network, Neighbours Nightclub Seattle, Seattle HIV/AIDS Vaccine Trials Unit and welcomes the opportunity to do this again next year or - until there is a cure.
