WORST MUSIC OF 2013

by Albert Rodriguez and Jessica Price - SGN A&E Writers

Not everyone, or everything, shined in 2013. This is what we didn't love this past year, in random order.

1. MTV VMA appearance/performance - Miley Cyrus
Oh Miley, grow up - your antics (and your tongue) have become tiresome. -J. Price

2. Midnight Memories (album) - One Direction
Most annoying boy band EVER. The fact that they can't keep their hands off each other is the only interesting thing about them. -A. Rodriguez

3. Artpop (album) - Lady GaGa
Sadly, Artpop sounds like a hastily put together effort missing the genuine weirdness that made us love her in the first place. Better luck next time - we hope she gets her spark back. -J. Price

4. 'The Sound of Music Live!' TV special - Carrie Underwood, Stephen Moyer, etc.
Jesus, take the wheel please! Despite drawing 18 million viewers, this karaoke version of a beloved musical film was a sloppy, hot mess. -A. Rodriguez

5. 'Cups' (Pitch Perfect's 'When I'm Gone') (single) - Anna Kendrick
Don't quit your day job, Anna Kendrick! And don't sing other people's stupid songs. -A. Rodriguez

6. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (album) - Eminem
In 2013 (and with pro-Gay contemporaries like Macklemore fighting the good fight), it's ridiculous for Eminem to use the 'I-didn't-mean-it-that-way-and-I'm-friends-with-Elton-John' defense when it comes to disparaging lyrics. Slim Shady, go home! -J. Price

7. April 3 concert, Key Arena - Rihanna
Ri Ri's show was disappointing on many levels, but mostly because it lacked enthusiasm from its leading star who appeared to be in another universe (like Planet Daze). -A. Rodriguez

8. 'The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)' (single) - Ylvis
This year's biggest viral 'kill me' moment. Comedy or not, we wish we could say this never happened. -J. Price

9. 'Woman's World' (single) - Cher
Yes, of course I'm happy Cher is back. But this poorly executed dance track screams 'deep-fried 'Believe.' -A. Rodriguez

10. #willpower - will.i.am
The fact that producer will.i.am makes other people's music sound horrible is one thing, but his very own material is even worse. #crap is a more suitable title. -A. Rodriguez
