Mary Lambert interviews next week with Seattle Gay News

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

She is that sweet voice on the chorus of 'Same Love.' She is that gorgeous, hourglass-shaped woman often seen with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. She is a 2014 Grammy nominee, and a Seattle native. She is Mary Lambert. The singer-songwriter is now set to embark on her own musical journey, releasing a four-song EP this week entitled Welcome to the Age of My Body. The openly Gay artist, who had a strict Christian upbringing, is a Cornish College of the Arts graduate and previously authored a book of poetry called 500 Tips for Fat Girls. Lambert is my special guest in The Music Lounge next week, the final installment of the column for 2013. Find out what she's planning to wear to the Grammys and get the scoop on her new EP.

LORDE
Oh my Lorde! The overnight success story of the year belongs to young New Zealander Lorde, who completed a twelve-month run with one of 2013's top selling singles and four Grammy nominations, including nods for Record and Song of the Year. Her mega hit 'Royals' shot to #1 in over ten countries and has already been certified quadruple-platinum in the U.S. Lorde has included Seattle in her 16-date tour next year, her only Northwest appearance (she isn't playing Portland or Vancouver). She's slated to perform March 24 at WaMu Theater with tickets on sale now at all Ticketmaster locations. This show could potentially sell out, so buy those tickets now!

ONEREPUBLIC
Also announcing an upcoming concert this week is pop-rock band OneRepublic, who'll play the Everett Events Center on June 12 with opening act The Script. The American five-piece act is best known for their smash single 'Good Life.' Tickets are now on sale through Ticketmaster.

DUNCAN SHEIK
I am working to confirm an interview with Tony-Grammy winner Duncan Sheik for early February. The acclaimed singer-songwriter-composer, who's interviewed twice before with Seattle Gay News, will appear February 10 at The Triple Door. Look for an interview announcement on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/seattlegaynews) in the coming days.

SOLD OUT
Finally, the Josh Ritter concert on January 26 and Bastille show on April 8 are now sold out. Bastille incidentally made SGN's top ten albums list of 2013 (Bad Blood).
