SEATTLE GAY & LESBIAN BOOK CLUB - FAIRYLAND
The Seattle Gay & Lesbian Book Club meets every Wednesday from 6-7:15 p.m., at Seattle Area Support Groups Community Center (303 17th Ave. E. at E. Thomas St.).

In January, the club will discuss Fairyland by Alysia Abbott, the true story of a girl growing up with her Gay Buddhist poet father in San Francisco during the '70s and '80s, and as she goes through his journals 35 years later and recreates their time together, a daughter-father love story that I think will speak hugely to all those fathers in our reading group. It brings back to life post-Stonewall San Francisco, when it was the capital of the Gay universe, as well as the catastrophe of AIDS, when the caregiving parent has to turn to his daughter for caregiving. Sofia Coppola has just purchased the rights to Fairyland to make into her next film.

All GLBTQ folks are welcome to participate in this FREE book club. For more information, visit http://faculty.washington.edu/swittet/SGLBookClub/.
