Oscars 2014: Watch the awards at Purr on March 2

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Gravity or 12 Years a Slave or American Hustle? Matthew McConaughey or Leonardo DiCaprio or Chiwetel Ejiofor? 'Happy' or 'Ordinary Love'? Jennifer Lawrence or Lupita Nyong'o? We'll know next weekend when the 86th Academy Awards are presented live on March 2, emceed by everyone's favorite Lesbian, Ellen Degeneres. Bette Midler will perform for the first time ever on the show, which will also feature performances by Keren O, Pharrell Williams and U2.

Seattle Gay News invites everybody to an Oscars Viewing Party at Purr (1518 11th Avenue), where not only can you watch the red carpet arrivals and awards ceremony in their entirety, but you can win a gift bag of prizes if you guess the winners correctly in key categories. The event will be hosted by Barbie Humphrey and guests can enjoy 'Happy Hour' specials all night, so arrive early to have drinks and food, and to snag a good seat. Doors open at noon. There is no cover charge and Oscar ballots will be furnished at no cost.
