Sarah Jessica Parker launching fashion line in Seattle

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Sarah Jessica Parker, best known for portraying loveable Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City, is on her way to Seattle this week to launch a new line of shoes, coats and handbags. The Emmy Award-winning actress, who has also appeared in multiple films and season 4 of Glee, will debut her signature brand of items at Nordstrom, which began selling her products exclusively on February 28. The SJP Collection includes artisan-crafted shoes from Italy using top quality leather that hint at Parker's personal style and flair, and it also features handbags in a variety of colors and a grosgrain-trimmed Manhattan trench coat in navy and khaki. Parker is expected to greet fans at the downtown flagship store on March 5 and sign SJP merchandise.

Parker has a lengthy resume of TV and movie roles, but aside from the Sex and the City franchise her most popular work was on the short-lived 80s comedy Square Pegs, playing frizzy-haired nerd Patty Greene. Her alliance with the LGBT community goes back just as far; in fact, the brunette star has revealed in interviews that her first Gay friend died of AIDS. She's been a loyal supporter of same-sex marriage, frequently helping raise money and awareness for equality campaigns. Politically, she's also hosted fundraising events for Barack Obama and Bill de Blasio.

Shoe prices range from $195 to $485, handbags run between $245 and $375, while the trench coat goes for $495. Parker will autograph purchased SJP Collection items only from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at Nordstrom (500 Pine Street). And just think, Mother's Day is just around the corner!
