Beyonce and Jay Z coming to Safeco Field

Clear your calendar for July 30. Trust me, nothing's more important than this. Her royal highness, Queen Bey, is descending upon Seattle with hubby and hip-hop titan Jay Z. Music's top power-couple has included Seattle on its short 15-city 'On the Run Tour,' set for Safeco Field, making it only the second time the baseball stadium has been used for a major concert - the first was Paul McCartney's sold out gig in 2013. Combined, Beyonce and Jay Z own 36 Grammys and have sold over 300 million records worldwide. Combined, they are the shit. Details on the show itself haven't been revealed, but I assume each will deliver their own set - no offense, but I don't want Mr. Carter butting into 'Irreplacable' - but I'm guessing the two will collaborate on 'Drunk in Love' and a few other numbers. Tickets are on sale now through www.livenation.com. $1 of every ticket sold will be donated to the Shawn Carter Foundation, which helps individuals facing socio-economic hardships further their education at higher learning institutions.

Also headed to Seattle is indie all-girl group Haim, who scored it big with a pair of singles last year, 'Falling' and 'The Wire.' The trio consists of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana, who each started out solo or played with other bands before joining forces to form Haim. Together, they've opened for Ke$ha, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Julian Casablancas and Cold War Kids, to name a few. You can check them out August 15 at the Paramount Theatre. Tickets are now on sale at www.tickets.com.

If you're looking for a summer escape (aren't we all?), MusicfestNW is taking place once again in Portland, but this time all performances will be in one spot, at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, in the heart of The Rose City. The festival's lineup includes Spoon, Girl Talk, Haim, Future Islands, Pink Mountaintops, The Antlers and Phantogram. Okay, so it doesn't stack up to Bumbershoot. But, it's an excuse to kick it in Portland. Dates are August 16 and 17, and tickets - $50 single day, $85 two day pass, VIP passes $175/$300 - are available at www.musicfestnw.com.

The first BECU ZooTunes Concerts performance has been revealed. Grammy winners Mavis Staples and Marc Cohn will appear at Woodland Park Zoo on June 22. More artists are expected to be announced in the coming days. At press time, no ticket information was available for the Staples/Cohn show.

Kris Orlowski, who interviewed with Seattle Gay News a month ago, has announced an upcoming show at the Tractor Tavern on June 3. The concert is part of a summer tour with Jamestown Revival. The Seattle band, fronted by lead singer Kris Orlowski, released its debut album Believer on April 15 that contains the leadoff single 'Fighting the War.' Go to www.tractortavern.com for ticket information.

Finally, the music lineup for this year's Bumbershoot Festival is set for announcement on May 8. Follow us at @SGNMusic1 for updates on Bumbershoot and other music buzz.
