Ruth Soto named 2014 Seattle Pride Idol

Seattle Pride Idol, presented by T-Mobile, wrapped up its season Sunday night at Neighbours Nightclub with several performances that brought the packed venue to its feet.

Twelve finalists from the regular weekly competitions returned to the stage for one last chance to sing for the judges for an attempt to become the 2014 Seattle Pride Idol. Host Olivia LaGarce was joined by the always fabulous Mama Tits, both of whom gave stunning performances, kept everyone entertained throughout the evening.

With 8 judges at the table, each contestant took the stage for one song and one chance to leave a positive impression with the judges and audience. While all the finalists gave amazing performances, women finalists rounded out the top 3.

In third place this year, winning $250 and a Microsoft Surface 2 Tablet was Kari Callen with her rendition of Wicked's 'No Good Deed,' which captivated the entire audience.

Singing 'Gonna Take a Miracle,' second place winner Sherry Eberhardt gave a phenomenal performance that brought the crowd and judges to their feet. Sherry took home $500 and an iPad MINI courtesy of T-Mobile.

Winning this year's Pride Idol competition was Ruth Soto, singing 'Summertime,' a performance so powerful, the audience and judges rose to their feet with applause for several minutes at the end of her song. Ruth wins $1,000, a round-trip vacation for two to Puerto Vallerta, courtesy of Alaska Airlines, and scheduled performances throughout Pride month.

'Ruth's voice and performance style raised the stakes in this year's competition, says Adam McRoberts, Communications Director for Seattle Pride. 'With her angelic, soulful voice and poise on stage, Ruth will make the entire city proud as our Pride Idol. We can't wait to hear her performing on 4th Avenue at the Pride Parade!'

You can see Ruth perform live at the Seattle Pride Picnic on June 14, the Women's Pride on June 20, singing the National Anthem at the Seattle Storm game on June 22, at the MOHAI Family Day on June 28, on the Pride Idol float in the Seattle Pride Parade June 29, and on stage at PrideFest following the parade.

Photos and videos of all the performances can be found at www.seattlepride.org
