Dear Editor:
As a member of the Seattle Gay Community since 1980, I just want to say that I thought this year's Gay Pride Parade, and the celebration at the Seattle Center afterwards, was the best that I can remember.
Although I did miss the giant 'Healthy Penis' that Gay City Health Project used to have at past Pride Festivals, and which a friend took a picture of me standing next to.
I was not only impressed with the length (over two hours) and content of the parade, but also with all the dignitaries and government officials that honored us with their presence.
However, my only concern was with the weather, since a 50% change of rain was forecast. So, even Mother Nature not only did not Rain on Our Parade, but eventually provided us with a bright and sunny day. So, who said that God doesn't love Fags?!
I always try to be prepared for the weather, so I did bring my small collapsible umbrella. But when the sun came out, I didn't know what to do with it. I didn't want to carry it around, and look like a 'geek,' so I simply stuffed it in the front pocket of the white shorts that I was wearing.
Of course, if Mae West had seen me she might have asked, 'Is that an umbrella in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me!'
Sincerely,
John Mark
P.S. I would also like to mention the gigantic and impressive size of last week's issue of the Seattle Gay News, which contained five sections. Excellent job, SGN guys and gals!
