Nick Carter and Jordan Knight book Showbox concert

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Another week, another batch of live shows to tell you about. First up, and of particular interest to Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block fans, is the pairing of Nick Carter and Jordan Knight at The Showbox SoDo on November 20. They just released a joint single called 'One More Time,' the first cut from their collaborative album entitled Nick & Knight (September 2 release). The former boy band members are taking their little act on the road this fall with live appearances in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Nashville, Orlando, Boston, Houston, Seattle, and many more. Although both men are straight - Carter got hitched recently - Knight's brother Jonathan, also part of BSB, is openly Gay. For tickets, go to www.showboxpresents.com.

Meshell Ndegeocello has booked a date at The Triple Door, set to appear September 19 at the downtown venue. The Lesbian singer-songwriter was in Seattle a few months ago to participate in a music-mentoring program for local students. Log onto www.thetripledoor.net for tickets and further information.

Singer-songwriter Patty Griffin, who has interviewed with Seattle Gay News, is scheduled to appear October 24 at the Moore Theatre. She's on the road continuing to support last year's release, Silver Bell. For tickets, go to www.stgpresents.org. Indie pop group The Drums are returning to the Emerald City for a concert on October 9 at Neumos, where they'll play selections from their forthcoming album, Encyclopedia (out September 23), as well as songs from 2011's Portamento and 2010's self-titled debut. For tickets, visit www.neumos.com. Andrew McMahon, former lead singer of Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin, heads to Seattle for a solo performance at The Neptune on October 22 to boost his 2013 EP The Pop Underground.

If you were considering a roadtrip to The Gorge for this year's Watershed Festival on August 1-3, stop considering. The three-day festival is completely sold out and will include performances by Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum, Kip Moore, Jake Owen, Billy Currington, Eli Young Band, Lonestar, Joe Diffie and Cassadee Pope.

Shania Twain has announced the final performances of 'Shania: Still the One' at The Colosseum at Ceasars Palace. The Grammy winner's two-year residency in Las Vegas will close out with 16 concerts between October 8 and December 13, totaling over 100 shows in its span. I attended and reviewed her June 6 performance, which I thought was quite impressive and really showcased the country star's remarkable career with a set list that included many of her top hits, from 'I'm Gonna Getcha Good!' to 'That Don't Impress Me Much' to her signature ballad 'You're Still the One.' Tickets for the remaining concerts, featuring a 13-piece band and 6 backup dancers, are on sale now at www.thecolosseum.com or www.axs.com (keyword: Shania Twain). For more details, go to www.shaniainvegas.com. Definitely see this show, if you're visiting Las Vegas in the coming months.

Finally, I'm working on upcoming interviews with Jason Mraz, Lisa Fischer and The Kooks. When confirmed, I'll announce the print dates here in The Music Lounge, or follow @SGNMusic1 on Twitter for updates.
