Arouet presents the world premiere of an original play: The Fierce Urgency of Now |
In a world where everything is due yesterday, creativity and commerce collide and personalities clash in a modern day take on a classic coming-of-age story. Set within the halls of a storied ad agency and inspired and based on real people and events, The Fierce Urgency of Now exposes the precarious nature of power and the inner questions that haunt us all using a delicate balance of wit, verve, and humor.
In this original script by ad-industry vet Doug DeVita, a troubled-yet-talented art director named Kyle struggles to find himself amid the inner turmoil of his creative department with the help of an unlikely ally& his new copywriter Dodo, a living relic of the 'Mad Men' era.
'It's an insider's look at the ad industry, but with emotional parallels that anyone who has ever worked in business or for a bad boss can relate with,' said Roy Arauz, the show's director. 'This story has love, loss, revenge, and a lot of laughs along the way.'
The cast features the talents of Evan Louis Thomas as Kyle, Laura Crouch as Dodo, Kelly Johnson as Meryl, Lisa Viertel as Kate, and Mark Waldstein as Neil. Full cast biographies are available at http://arouet.us/news/cast-and-crew-of-the-fierce-urgency-of-now/
In addition to director Roy Arauz, who is also Arouet's artistic director, the artistic team also includes Assistant Director Renee Cyr, Lighting Designer Zack Brink, Sound Designer John, Costumer Designer Nicholas Giacalone, and Set Designer Kim Rosin. The production is stage managed by Zach Sanders.
