Bette Midler, Taylor Swift are Seattle-bound next summer

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

June is going to be divine, trust me. Though it's seven months away, it kicks off with the appearance of Bette Midler at Key Arena. The Grammy and Emmy Award-winner and Oscar-nominated actress has included the Emerald City on next year's 22-city tour, scheduled to perform June 1 at the indoor venue. Midler just released a new album, It's the Girls!, a collection of reworked nostalgic songs by all-female acts, including the Andrew Sisters, TLC, The Chiffons, and the Ronettes, to name a few. Additional North American dates and a UK tour will be announced soon. Tickets for the Gay icon's Seattle performance go on sale November 24 (10 a.m.) at LiveNation.com, all Ticketmaster locations, or by phone at 1-800-745-3000. American Express cardholders can purchase tickets before the general public, beginning November 19 (10 a.m.) through November 21 (10 a.m.). The Divine Miss M has sold over 30 million albums in her career, making her one of the world's biggest entertainers.

Get ready to shake it off, and then some! Pop superstar Taylor Swift is also headed to Seattle next summer, securing a date at CenturyLink Field on August 8 on her lengthy 2015 road outing that starts May 20 in Louisiana. The soon-to-be 25 year-old released her fifth studio album, 1989, last month and sold 751,000 copies in just two days. 'Out of the Woods' is the second released single from the record, said to be written about former beau Harry Styles. Australian breakthrough artist Van Hunt, who scored his first U.S. hit with last year's 'Riptide,' is opening all North American shows for Swift. Pre-sale tickets start November 7 through her official website, taylorswift.com, and American Express cardholders will also have access to tickets prior to the general public on sale, which has yet to be announced.

No plans for Valentine's Day? Spend it with Meghan Trainor. The red-hot newbie, basking in the success of her #1 single 'All About That Bass,' is performing live at The Neptune on February 14, as part of her 'That Bass Tour.' To my knowledge, this marks the first time the Massachusetts-bred singer-songwriter is appearing in-person here in Seattle. Trainor just released 'Lips Are Moving,' the second single from her forthcoming album, aptly titled Title. Tickets for her concert go on sale November 8 at Tickets.com, 24-hour kiosks parked outside the Paramount, Moore, and Neptune theatre box offices, Sonic Boom Records in Ballard, or by phone at 1-877-STG-4TIX.

Good news for people who love Sam Smith. Additional tickets for the British rising star's February 2 show at Key Arena have been released. General admission floor and reserved seats priced between $39.50 and $75.00 are now available at TicketMaster.com, Key Arena box office, or by phone at 1-800-745-3000. Smith is expected to nab several Grammy nominations when they're announced in less than a month.

Finally, there are rumors of a Tony Bennett-Lady GaGa tour in 2015. Thus far, concerts in Las Vegas (New Year's Eve), Los Angeles, London, and New York, including a third just-added show at Radio City Music Hall on June 22, have been announced. As soon as I know something, you'll know. Do stream the duo's collaborative album, Cheek to Cheek, a great listen for a cozy night by the fire.
