Death Cab for Cutie to headline Deck The Hall Ball

The most wonderful time of the year just got more wonderful. Death Cab for Cutie is set to headline this year's festivities, scheduled for December 8 at Key Arena. The Seattle-based group - Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Jason McGerr - released its eighth studio album, Kintsugi, at the start of 2015; Chris Walla left the band recently. DCFC will be joined at the annual holiday radio show by Cage the Elephant, Twenty One Pilots, Walk the Moon, Alabama Shakes, Nathanial Ratliffe, and X Ambassadors. Ticket information and further details are available at 1077theend.com.

Also coming soon to Seattle is singer-songwriter Josh Ritter, who'll be appearing at Easy Street Records on October 12 and then again January 24 for a full concert at the Moore Theatre. The Northwest-bred musician, originally from Moscow, Idaho, made headlines two years ago when he harshly criticized Messiah College, a private Christian school in southern Pennsylvania, for its anti-Gay policies. Before Ritter was to perform on campus, he researched the college and found that it forced students to sign a 'Community Covenant,' an agreement to not participate in certain activities, including homosexual acts. He still played the concert, but took the opportunity to encourage concertgoers 'to see openness and change.' Interestingly, Ritter's forthcoming album is titled Sermon on the Rocks, scheduled for release on October 16. For tickets to see Ritter live, go to Tickets.com.

If you can't catch Madonna's 'Rebel Heart Tour' next month in Portland and have airline miles to redeem, consider seeing her in Asia. The Material Girl is taking the show across the Pacific to Taipei (February 4), Bangkok (February 9), Tokyo (February 13), Hong Kong (February 17), Macau (February 20 and 21), Pasay City (Febuary 24), and Manila (February 25). Tickets for these shows, as well as others announced for Louisville, Nashville, Tulsa, and Mexico City, will go on sale between now and October 10. Get the latest information and details at Madonna.com.

Finally, don't forget about the Decibel Festival, running from September 23 through 27 here in Seattle. It's one of the country's premiere electronic music festivals with a great lineup of underground and rising talent in the EDM world, featuring performances at multiple venues. For a full lineup and festival ticket prices, go to dbfestival.com.
