Amy Schumer to ring in New Year at Key Arena

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

What better way to kiss 2015 goodbye than an evening spent with Amy Schumer. The popular comedian, who opened a trio of concerts for Madonna in New York City, is the creative force behind the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series 'Inside Amy Schumer.' She'll wrap up a 7-city tour with a December 31 appearance in Seattle, closing out the year in front of a big crowd at Key Arena, rarely used for comedy shows. Her stand-up special on Comedy Central, 'Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo,' drew the largest Saturday night audience for the cable channel since 2009 when it premiered October 17 and her feature film Trainwreck was one of this year's sleeper hits.

The list of accolades goes on and on for this hilarious actress-writer-producer, who just signed her first book deal with Simon & Schuster imprint Gallery Books; her skits, meanwhile, like '12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer,' are near legendary.

Recently, Schumer and her cousin, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, have gone on an anti-gun crusade, asking lawmakers to pass gun bills that would tighten background checks for potential owners and increase mental health funding. The related duo is requesting that everybody use the hashtag #AIMINGFORCHANGE to raise awareness for the issue on social media. A shooting during a screening of Trainwreck at a movie theater in Louisiana led the entertainer to push for stricter gun laws.

This summer, Schumer photobombed a Gay couple, Joseph Turnage and Brandon Moore, in Central Park as they took pictures to mark their engagement. 'You guys know I'm like reeeeeeal famous,' she said as she removed her sunglasses and snapped a quick pic with the lovebirds, shortly after screeching to a halt during a jog through the park. Among the comedian's major influences is Margaret Cho, who spoke highly about her twice when she interviewed with Seattle Gay News.

Tickets for 'Amy Schumer on New Year's Eve' are on sale now at LiveNation.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, or charge by phone 1-800-745-3000.
