Gage Academy of Art presents the 16th Annual Drawing Jam on Dec. 5

The annual family-friendly event includes live music, models & free art supplies

Gage Academy of Art is proud to present the 16th annual Drawing Jam, happening Saturday, December 5, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Gage building next to St. Mark's Cathedral on Capitol Hill, 1501 10th Ave E. The annual family-friendly celebration of art and music features more than 50 live models in studios throughout the building, as well as live music, demonstrations from Gage teaching artists, dedicated spaces for families and young artists, an assortment of local food trucks and FREE art supplies for all! Tickets to Drawing Jam are available at the door and are $12 - kids and teens 15 and under get in FREE!

Now in its 16th year, Drawing Jam is a unique mash-up of music and art for the whole family. Named a, 'Must-Do Event' by Seattle Magazine, Drawing Jam annually attracts more than 1000 artists of all ages and abilities to Capitol Hill for a chance to draw or sketch from live clothed and nude models and still-life setups arranged throughout the building. The eclectic assortment of models for 2015 includes The Seafair Pirates, Miss Kitty Baby, Comic Book Characters for Causes, Nikita Breznikov, Noah Duffy, The Goddess Kring and more!

Plus, dancers, musicians and costumed performers serving as gesture models and nude figure models are available for traditional sessions, and Gage instructors demonstrate drawing, painting and sculpting techniques throughout the day.

Studios complete with FREE ART SUPPLIES (courtesy of BLICK Art Materials, Dakota Art Stores, Canson and Speedball) will be available for open use, and free parking is provided.

Drawing Jam 2015 also features live local music in a variety of locations throughout the building and throughout the day. Performers include Flow, Ask Sophie, Mighty Tiny, The Slakes, Sam Russell, Hobbit & Hare, The Klez Katz, Travis Hartnett and many more. In addition, the event features opportunities to tour the studio facilities at Gage and tour three exhibitions currently showing in the Gage galleries.

In addition, Drawing Jam 2015 includes a small-works sale of student, instructor and graduate artwork. These ready-to-hang studio pieces are all priced at less than $150, and feature a wealth of styles and mediums for the art-lover on your list.

Local Seattle food trucks Off the Rez and Wicked Pies will be serving up gourmet mobile cuisine throughout the day, and providing tasty vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare for hungry artists of all ages.

Spend an hour - or the entire day - but don't miss the opportunity to experience one of the most eclectic art events in the Northwest!

Drawing Jam is generously sponsored by Classical KING-FM, BLICK Art Materials, Dakota Art Stores, Canson, Speedball, 4Culture, the Office of Arts & Culture, Artist & Craftsman Supply, Capitol Cider and Caffee Umbria.
