BEST OF MUSIC 2015: Worst Music

by Albert Rodriguez and Jessica Price - SGN A&E Writers

The duds. The disappointments. The total stinkers. The stuff we hoped would go away, but didn't. And though we could've filled this list with many more, here are the 10 worst offenders of pitiful music that was ushered out in 2015.

1. 'Uptown Funk' - Mark Ronson (featuring Bruno Mars)
I know everybody loves this song. But it was EVERYWHERE! And it wasn't even original, or funky. It's a musical cross-stitch of at least a half dozen songs from four decades ago that sounded much better than this. A. Rodriguez

2. 'Bitch I'm Madonna' - Madonna / 'Bitch Better Have My Money' - Rihanna
As much as we love our leading ladies, maybe it's time to retire the women calling each other 'bitch' parlance. Show some real respect, ladies. J. Price

3. 'Trap Queen' - Fetty Wap
This gimmicky track from hip hop upstart Fetty Wap is headed directly to a Now That's What You Call Music CD, and then we'll never hear of it - or, him - again (thank God!). A. Rodriguez

4. 'FourFiveSeconds' - Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney
I know Sir Paul wants to be relevant and fit in with the kids, but collaborating with an ego-bloated rap star and a hit-and-miss pop diva isn't the way to do it. What a waste of four and five seconds! A. Rodriguez

5. 'Cheerleader' - OMI
The peppy vibe of this overplayed summer smash by Jamaican singer OMI can't cover up the fact that it really sucks, and it gave me a migraine (and I never get migraines). A. Rodriguez

6. Miley Cyrus and her Dead Petz - Miley Cyrus
This experimental collaboration with The Flaming Lips was an ill-advised vanity project for both artists. The results are abysmal, unless you're stoned or sipping codeine. J. Price

7. 'Writing's on the Wall' - Sam Smith
After winning four Grammys in February, much of 2015 was a wash for Sam Smith. This forgettable tune, the latest addition to the James Bond theme song series, should be fittingly tucked away in the DVD bonus features, or maybe the blooper reel. A. Rodriguez

8. Title - Meghan Trainor
With songs as annoying as 'Dear Future Husband' and a cringeworthy, awkward album cover, Meghan Trainor's fame is inexplicable and undeserved. Stop the madness. J. Price

9. 'Hymne à L'Amour' - Celine Dion
Though a good effort was made to pay tribute to those lost in the Paris attacks, the Canadian power-belter used the opportunity to smother a beautiful Edith Piaf number at the AMAs ceremony last month. My heart was heavy, but my ears were bleeding. A. Rodriguez

10. 'Everything is Awesome' - Tegan and Sara
'Everything is Obnoxious' is a more fitting title for this wacky, irritating theme song for The Lego Movie that carried over from 2014. Why it received an Oscar nomination is beyond me. A. Rodriguez
