Gay City Arts presents 'LUSH US: Gay City Arts Showcase' with Mary Lambert |

Gay City Health Project
Gay City proudly announces a brand new event celebrating the way The Arts brings together community. 'Lush Us: Gay City Arts Showcase' will feature performances by artists participating in Gay City Arts Season Three: Queer Revolution. There'll be dance, music, spoken word, theater, even comedy, all from queer artists representing some of the best Seattle has to offer. Topping the evening off will be a live performance from Billboard 200 listed artist Mary Lambert.
'I'm not sure what anvil of good luck fell on us,' exclaims Gay City Arts Coordinator Tara Hardy, 'but we've got Seattle's sweetest sweetheart Mary Lambert performing in our first Gay City Arts season showcase! Not only will she do a full-length feature set/love letter to Seattle Queers, but we'll have spotlight performances from each of our current season's shows.'
Hardy, also a renowned poet and spoken word artist, once had the pleasure of coaching Lambert on a poetry slam team years ago. She knew, even then, that Mary was someone to watch out for.
'Mary Lambert has been taking this city's breath away since she was a Seattle Youth Speaks poet,' Hardy agrees. 'The first time I saw her perform I got that heart-stall that you get when you're in the presence of greatness.'
Gay City has a two-decade long history of using innovative programming and approaches for promoting the holistic health and wellness of the LGBTQ community. One such approach has been partnering with queer artists to aid in community engagement. Through Gay City Arts, Gay City collaborates with local LGBTQ artists to galvanize an audience for queer arts, foster the development of LGBTQ artists and works, and facilitate artistic excellence that is accessible.
'From our early one-act play festivals, to writing workshops, to spoken word events, the arts have played a critical role in helping Gay City push important conversations forward for twenty years,' says Gay City Executive Director Fred Swanson. 'We were thrilled to incorporate our own performance space into our vision for Gay City in 2013, and couldn't be more excited about the work that has been produced since launching Gay City Arts. 'Lush Us' will be a great way to celebrate the amazing LGBTQ artists participating in Gay City Arts, and to invest in the incredible momentum this program has initiated!'
'Lush Us: Gay City Arts Showcase' will happen on Saturday, February 6 at Seattle's historic Town Hall (1119 8th Avenue at Seneca St.). In addition to a live performance from headliner Mary Lambert and her band, performers scheduled to appear include Ela Barton, Ariana Bird, Andy Burian, Nathan Blackwell, Chad Goller-Sojourner, Dorothy Frances Kent, Imani Sims, Christian Swacker, and Casey Tonnelly.
General admission tickets are only $25. Step up to a VIP ticket for $95, and you'll get access to front row seating during the show, plus an exclusive pre-show reception featuring a VIP-only bar, light bites, and a meet and greet with Mary Lambert. Only 50 VIP tickets will be sold. Proceeds from the event will directly support Gay City and Gay City Arts. You can purchase tickets, or find more information at gaycity.org/lushus
