The fabulous Kaya Jones to appear at the Dinah Vegas

by Teriyaki Temple
(David Luc Nguyen)
SGN A&E Writer

Kaya Jones, formerly of the mega girl group, The Pussycat Dolls talks to Seattle Gay News about:

Her new fashion line premiering at LA Fashion Week, secrets to looking fabulous on the red carpet, and possibly going Lesbian at the Dinah Vegas.

Kaya Jones, most notably known as one of the lead singers of the Pussycat Dolls (not the brunette one that always sounds like she's stoned, but the pretty blonde one) took time out of her whirlwind schedule to talk to SGN's own Teriyaki Temple.

Teriyaki Temple: You've been everywhere girl! Saw you at the Grammys, kicking it at the Playboy Mansion, launching a new clothing line at LA Fashion Week earlier this month. And you're all over the Internet! So with such a busy schedule, how do you always look so hot? If I were you, I'd look totally hags! What's your secret to staying so fabulous?

Kaya Jones: Everything in moderation. Eat healthy and workout and sleep! Water is so important. Lots of H2O!

TT: Most recently we saw you on the Grammys red carpet. You were rocking gorgeous in that Alexis Monsanto Atelier gown. You caused quite the buzz! It's obvious you really love fashion and you aren't afraid to push the envelope. KJ: I'm obsessed with fashion!!! It's so important to me. As a designer I need to be aware of the 'what's next factor.'

TT: When you're picking out an outfit for a red carpet event what are some of the things you look for?

KJ: I look for how it fits. Does it hang or fit well. Then I look at the color and style. Fashion is all about forward not backwards. So taking the past and making it current is so important.

TT: While we are on the topic of fashion, you recently debuted your Fall/Winter clothing line, 'Hollywood Doll' at Los Angeles Fashion Week, which is going to be featured on VH1. Where do you draw your inspiration from as you create your clothing line?

KJ: Kids are my inspiration. To create you've got to be fun and happy. And well, I'm five mentally and dressing up is all about taking risks. For the kids collection I had to keep in mind what do they want, not what I want or what parents want, but what do the children want.

TT: What kind of woman do you see wearing 'Hollywood Doll?' KJ: Well, we have an adult line for 'Hollywood Doll' and just launched 'Vegas Doll.' We are for fun carefree women. It's all about the girl who is all grown up and still is fun and wants to play. Sex and the City type of women! ;)

TT: Is there anyone in Hollywood you could see wearing your designs? KJ: Gigi or Sarah Jessica Parker.

TT: I'm so excited to hear you'll be headlining at The Dinah Las Vegas' 5th Anniversary celebration this year. Have you been to The Dinah Las Vegas before? KJ: I haven't. I'm very aware of what the Dinah is all about. The (queer) community is near and dear to my heart. The Abbey and Here (both WeHo hot spots) are like my living room. I have no doubt it's gonna be amazing performing for friends and family. We can also finally celebrate since equality is real and here! It's about fucking time!

I'm really looking forward to partying it up with the women and enjoying their day! LGBTQ has come a long way and needs to be celebrated whenever possible.

TT: You've been romantically linked to celebrities including: Eminem, Vin Diesel, Bill Maher, Nick Carter and Luis Migel. Do you currently have a special someone? If not, do you think there's a possibility that one of the lovely ladies at The Dinah Las Vegas could catch your eye? KJ: Hahahahah. I've had fun! Hey you never know&. Sexuality is fluid and I never put limitations on anything. So you never know.

TT: What do you find most attractive on a woman? How about a man? KJ: Eyes and personality!

TT: Sounds like you've been very busy between performing, running your fashion empire and on top of all of it your amazing humanitarian work (with under privileged and exploited youth).

Care to share with us about some of your other projects you have in the pipeline? KJ: My new album! I'm about to start recording my next album. Oh and I'm touring, and producing a new Vegas show! Oh and I have three new music videos in the works, too.

TT: Oh is that all? Hahaha Gurl, you're a busy lady! Do you think any of your upcoming projects will bring you to the Pacific Northwest? KJ: It's a worldwide tour, so most definitely ;)

TT: What's something you'd like to share with me that not too many people know about you? KJ: Btw, Teriyaki Temple is an awesome name by the way!

Hmmmmm ok let me see. Oh I know. I actually always wanted to be a cardio thoracic surgeon. I wanted to be a doctor. Show business wasn't my first choice. Not a lot of people know that.

TT: Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat with me today. KJ: Thanks for chatting with me, Teriyaki. Love & Light! Kaya x Be sure to join Kaya Jones and the world's hottest Lesbians at the Dinah Vegas from Thursday, April 28 through Sunday, May 1 as she headlines the Infinity Pool Party at the Flamingo Hotel.

The Dinah Vegas is presented by Caesars Entertainment.
