Alan Cumming, Bianca Del Rio and Sia announce Seattle performances

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Clear your calendars and pay off your credit cards because here are three shows you don't wanna miss:

Tony Award winner Alan Cumming is coming to the Emerald City this summer, as part of his national tour celebrating the release of his new album, Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs, which doubles as the title of his tour that includes US appearances in Dallas, San Francisco, Provincetown, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Pittsburgh. The standout actor had also received Emmy nominations for his work on 'The Good Wife,' besides starring in films and theater productions in London's West End and on Broadway in New York. Covers of Billy Joel's 'Goodnight Saigon,' Miley Cyrus' 'The Climb' and Rufus Wainwright's 'Dinner at Eight' are a few of the numbers you might hear when Cumming performs at Town Hall on July 2. As expected, he also sings familiar show tunes in his concerts, such as 'The Ladies Who Lunch' from Company and 'You, You, You' from Kander & Ebb's The Visit. When he's not performing, the Scottish entertainer devotes much of his time and energy as a voice for LGBT rights and HIV/AIDS awareness, serving on the Board of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and working closely with amfAR. Tickets for Alan Cumming are available at brownpapertickets.com.

Bianca Del Rio, everyone's favorite caked-on makeup Mexican drag queen, is launching the North American leg of her upcoming tour in Seattle this fall. The Season 6 winner of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' will appear at The Showbox SoDo on September 28, the opening date of her 'Not Today Satan' tour, a follow-up to Del Rio's previous road outing, the successful 'Rolodex of Hate' tour. In addition to North American cities, including Portland, Chicago, Atlanta and New Orleans, to name a few, the Lousiana native has also booked six shows in Australia. The insult comic recently appeared on a TV special by Vimeo, later acquired by Logo TV, that highlighted her childhood and life events since claiming the ultimate drag title, like resettling in Los Angeles. 'When I'm not busy volunteering at the soup kitchen or knitting socks for orphans, one of my favorite pastimes is gathering the cold, huddled masses into a nice warm room, giving them shelter if only for an hour, and sharing valuable life advice from a hate guru,' states Del Rio in a press release. Tickets for The Showbox SoDo concert are on sale now at axs.com.

Sia is kicking off her 'Nostalgic for the Present Tour' tour in Seattle on September 29, featuring special guests Miguel and AlunaGeorge. This is the Grammy-nominated artist's first-ever arena tour, which will visit 22 cities this fall with stops in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Toronto, Orlando and Austin. The singer, who is publicly Bisexual, is married to filmmaker Erik Anders Lang, but has had past relationships with women, including fellow artist JD Samson of the band Le Tigre. Besides her own music, like 'Titanium' and 'Elastic Heart,' Sia has written songs for other musicians, from Beyonce to Christina Aguilera to Rihanna; the song 'Diamonds' is one of her compositions. The Australian singer-songwriter's mind-blowing performance at Coachella last month earned stellar reviews from music critics and festival-goers, offering a taste of what fans can expect from the upcoming tour. In 2014, Sia joined the NYC Gay Men's Chorus in a live rendition of 'Chandelier,' belting out the song from a balcony overlooking the stage. Other LGBT choruses have also performed the pop hit during their concerts, including the London Gay Men's Chorus and Seattle Women's Chorus. Tickets for Sia go on sale May 20 at 10 a.m. at LiveNation.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, or charge by phone 1-800-745-3000.
