The Cuff brings legendary DJ/Producer Tony Moran to headline this month's 'Fantasy Party' on Saturday, February 17

by MK Scott - SGN Contributing Writer

Legenday DJ/Producer Tony Moran will be headlining The Cuff's monthly 'Fantasy Party' taking place this Saturday, February 17th.

Moran is a two-time Grammy nominated remixer, producer, singer-songwriter. He is also one of the most well known DJs in the house music genre, regularly playing to massive crowds at events throughout the world.

I personally had always wanted to chat with Moran and I got the opportunity to do so via email this past Monday, February 12th.

MK Scott: Tony, I hear you are coming to Seattle and playing at a special event at The Cuff Complex. Can you spill all the details?

Tony Moran: I've been waiting to return to Seattle for a long time and I had loads of fun there and with a holiday weekend attached to the date, I wanted to get the party started and then spend some quality time in Seattle through Monday. I have so much great music with me along with brand new anthems and tracks!

MK: What do like most about Seattle? The Cuff?

Tony: I love being a total tourist in Seattle because it is such a friendly city. I plan on revisiting some of my favorite spots like Pike Place Market, Space Needle and of course going to Starbucks. When it comes to The Cuff, it has such a sexy crowd and I love, LOVE to play music in that environment.

MK: You have produced remixes from such iconic artists - from Madonna to Cher; from Mariah Carey to Whitney Houston. Who was your favorite?

Tony: I would have to say it is the legendary Luther Vandross. All the singers/artists that you just mentioned are extraordinary, but Luther's voice and personality will last with me forever.

MK: What was the album you enjoyed the best?

Tony: Probably the album I produced for Gloria Estefan. The title of the album was GLORIA! And I produced every song/recorded every vocal and instrument on it. It was an extremely intimate project.

MK: Are you single? How do you keep so fit?

Tony: I am not single and will happily bring my partner along to Seattle because we both love the city and the club. My bf keeps me fit.

MK: Finally, Describe the most memorable night in your career?

Tony: It was a night in Phuket/Thailand and there were thousands and thousands of people there. I played a special remix that I had done for Rihanna and the response was so emotional from the audience that many of them began to cry with tears of joy. I tried to hold it in, but I could not help crying as well as I was so grateful for their enthusiasm. Music heals. I can't wait to get there, Seattle!

See you at The Cuff!

Tony Moran makes his debut at The Cuff on Saturday, February 17. The cover is $15 for the event. Get there early to avoid the line.
