The Smashing Pumpkins and Dua Lipa announce Seattle summer concerts, Justin Timberlake and Jason Mraz add second shows

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Reunited, and it feels so good. Original members of the Grammy-winning alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins - Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlain and James Iha - are joining forces again for an upcoming tour that includes a stop in the Emerald City. The only group member not participating, due to personal reasons, is bassist D'arcy Wretzky. The Smashing Pumpkins enjoyed a major breakthrough in 1991 with their debut album Gish, but it was 1993's Siamese Dream that made them a household name; that record produced three mainstream rock hits, 'Today', 'Cherub Rock' and 'Disarm'. Later singles released included '1979', 'Bullet with Butterfly Wings', 'Tonight, Tonight' and 'The End is the Beginning is the End'. Tickets to see The Smashing Pumpkins live at Key Arena on August 24 are on sale now at www.LiveNation.com, or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

If you were bummed, as I was, when Dua Lipa axed her February 17 concert at The Showbox Market then you'll be very pleased to know she has rescheduled her performance for this summer. The British singer-songwriter, who rose to fame last year with her chart-topping hit 'No Rules' (SGN's 10 Best Singles of 2017), will now appear July 2 at WaMu Theater. Just recently, Lipa became the first female artist to reach 1 billion views on YouTube with the music video for 'No Rules'. Tickets for the show are on sale now at www.LiveNation.com, or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000. Tickets for the February concert will be honored for the July date; no exchange for new tickets is required.

Due to popular demand, a second Justin Timberlake concert has been added for the Tacoma Dome. Fans who couldn't score tickets for the November 12 performance, which is already sold out, have another opportunity to see the pop superstar on his Man of the Woods World Tour the following night, November 13. In addition to a second show in select US cities, Timberlake this week revealed dates for the European leg of his tour, sandwiched between two North American itineraries. Overseas stops are planned for Paris, Manchester, Glasgow, London, Amsterdam, Cologne, Hamburg, Zurich and Frankfurt, to name a few. Tickets for the new concert go on sale February 26 at www.LiveNation.com, or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

Jason Mraz has also added another performance at Marymoor Park on his upcoming tour. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, currently making his Broadway debut in the musical Waitress, will now play the outdoor venue in Redmond on September 9, in addition to the previously announced September 8 show. Opening for Mraz is Brett Dennen. Tickets for either concert are available now at www.aeglive.com.

Are you ready for more shows? Here are a few more announced this week: Post Malone with 21 Savage at the Accesso Showare Center (Kent) on April 29, Jimmy Buffet and The Coral Reefer Band at Key Arena on June 23 and Jane Monheit at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley on August 30 to September 2.

Finally, kudos to Holland for being the first openly gay K-pop idol and for debuting his new single with accompanying music video for the song 'Neverland'. The South Korean artist received 700,000 views for his video on YouTube within the first 24 hours of it being uploaded to the site; it currently has 6.9 million views. The video for the light R&B tune finds Holland kissing another young man in bed and holding hands with him on the beach, something rarely seen - if ever - in contemporary Korean culture.
