OutRight Action International Seattle to host book launch reception Jan. 7

Forty years ago Harvey Milk's iconic journey was ended by an assassin. The generation of out LGBTQ leaders he inspired went on to transform the world we live in, not only here in the U.S. but also globally. OutRight's partner and friend, UNC-Chapel Hill Professor of Political Science Andrew Reynolds, has documented this history through the epic stories of courageous political candidates and elected officials around the world who shattered stereotypes to transform politics and society.

Please join us for a special event on January 7, 6-7:30pm, at the Seattle Foundation (1601 Fifth Avenue, Suite 1900) launching Reynolds' new book, The Children of Harvey Milk: How LGBTQ Politicians Changed the World. Professor Reynolds will speak on the visibility of LGBTQ politicians, and Monisha Harrell of Equal Rights Washington will moderate a panel discussion with local LGBTQ elected officials, including State Senator Jamie Pedersen and MP Hannah Bardell (Scottish National Party).

Elliott Bay Books will be selling copies of Reynold's book at the event (you may also pre-order the book through Elliott Bay Books).

We hope you will join us to remember our history and celebrate the incredible progress we have made in the Puget Sound and around the world. Please register for this free event, and invite others to join us on Facebook. For more information and to register, visit http://iglhrc.nonprofitsoapbox.com/harveymilk/

This event is sponsored by OutRight Action International, GSBA, Equal Rights Washington, Carolina Pride Alumni Network, Seattle Foundation, Elliott Bay Books.
