Shorty's is moving

For over 22 years, Shorty's (www.shortydog.com) has been a fixture in Seattle's nightlife. As one of the oldest continuously running businesses under the same ownership in Belltown, Shorty's has received local, national, and international recognition for being on the forefront of a now thriving pinball revival as it was one of the first 'barcades' in the country to open its doors and is still going strong today. The simple concept that a neighborhood bar is has allowed Shorty's to stay successful throughout the ups and downs of time.

That said, nothing escapes the changing times, and the times, they are a changing, especially here in Seattle. With the threat of redevelopment of the block where Shorty's is currently located, relocating became a priority. We're proud to announce THE OPENING OF SHORTY'S NEW HOME at 2316 2nd Ave, in the historic RKO building, just ONE BLOCK NORTH of Shorty's current home on FRIDAY, JULY 12TH. Last day of business at the old location will be on SATURDAY, JULY 6TH.

In order to connect the old with the new, there will be a clown parade, moving all of our games from the old location to our new one. This will happen on TUESDAY, JULY 9TH, between 11am and 1pm - hope to see you there!

Shorty's has been featured on Anthony Bourdain's 'The Layover' show on the Travel Channel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNSRMsz-au8). Over the years, Shorty's has also been featured numerous times on local news outlets such as KING 5's 'Evening Magazine' and KOMO News (http://www.komonews.com/home/video/Tech-savvy-Seattle-has-growing-pinball-subculture--185113161.html). Shorty's was featured on the Q13 FOX morning show after being voted #28 in the 2013 National Hot Dog Day's national hot dog survey. In 2014, Shorty's was also voted #34 in a national Hot Dog survey by the 'Daily Meal,' the only outfit to receive recognition in the state of Washington.

Shorty's has been recognized as a Seattle 'institution' for many years now (http://www.seattleweekly.com/2006-04-05/music/shorty-s/), receiving multiple features in The Seattle Times, The Stranger, The Seattle Weekly, various pinball websites, Pinball News, Playmeter Magazine, Fodor's, Lonely Planet, and several international travel and in-flight publications. Shorty's was a finalist in the Seattle Times' contest for 'best dive bar' in Seattle. In 2016 Shorty's was featured on the front cover of Seattle Met magazine as being the best neighborhood bar in Seattle. In 2017 Seattle Met magazine featured Shorty's in an article recognizing the fact that it was there where the current world wide pinball resurgence started. Currently, Shorty's is in Jake Uitti's new book '100 Things to Do in Seattle Before you Die'. Shorty's was recently featured in KING 5's '5 Star Dive Bars'.
