| Margaret Diehl - Petter Pettersen |
Margaret Diehl
Margaret Diehl first came to Seattle in trusty Volkswagen, Balthizar. She stayed and went to the University of Washington School of Drama and where she met and married Robert Diehl in 1965.
She joined the Seattle Repertory Theatre in 1965 and became Wardrobe Master in 1966 (where an elevator is named in her honor). She was presented with the Unsung Hero Award of 1981 by The Theater Artists of Seattle, having dressed and undressed more members of this society more often than their mothers did and never told! Margaret was long-time member of IATSE (The International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees), and served as Business Agent of Local 887 for many years.
She also worked for Seattle Opera and other theatres in Seattle. Margaret has dressed virtually ever actor that has ever worked at the Seattle Repertory Theatre in it's 43 year history.

Petter Pettersen (1946 - 2005)
Petter Petersen moved on to a different plane early Thursday morning, Oct.27, 2005 after a battle with colon cancer, while at home with his beloved partner Leo, and his loving, fluffy dog Sela at his side. Petter's life spanned many continents, cultures, and careers.
Born in Trondheim, Norway, Petter spent his early years growing up in the family compound. His first career was as a First Class SAS steward when flying was still fun and an adventure was waiting at every layover. Picking up languages and knowledge of far away places, Petter fell in love and moved to a new life in Seattle, where he began a long and varied career in the food industry. He became a U.S. citizen on Nov.2, 1979. Over the years, Petter has owned and successfully operated several catering companies and restaurants (Castles, New Castles, The Pavilion, Franco's Hidden Harbor), been in charge of food service at several private clubs (The Swedish Club, The Mountaineers, The Lake City Elks), and has prepared meals for the King of Norway, many local and national celebrities, most of Seattle's large Scandinavian community, and very likely either you or one of your friends or neighbors. As the private chef on some of Seattle's major yachts (including the Boeing Yacht the Daedalious, the Malibu, and the Kanem), he cooked for many celebrities including Julie Andrews and Blake Edwards. He also wrote a popular column for the Western Viking newspaper which he filled with recipes and anecdotes from his vast knowledge of Scandinavian cultures, history, and food traditions.
With his wide ranging knowledge of classic and contemporary food and food preparation techniques from around the world, Petter was an invaluable resource if you worked in the food industry. Always ready to help, Petter could be called upon when you needed a recipe, an idea, a caterer, or a crisis solved. After retiring from the food industry, Petter's search for his next career led him back to the travel industry where he worked for Collette Travel as a travel guide. For several years, Petter brushed up on world history and languages as he led trips to Scandinavia, Europe, and China. With knowledge of several languages, he made a great guide and was much in demand. Finding the physical and psychological demands of constant travel in the current era too tiring, he retired once again and learned about selling on E-bay from Leo Gillespie, his life and business partner of many years.
Petter was always a gentleman and a good friend with a kind and loving heart. He leaves behind a long list of friends, acquaintances, and colleagues spread around the globe and across many social and cultural boundaries too numerous to list here. Among these many people are his loving partner of 15 years, Leo Gillespie; Pettter's family in Norway, preceeded by his father Thore Pettersen, and survived by his mother Else Hopstad, brothers, Thore Pettersen, Haakon Pettersen, and sister Torhild; and his "fellow travelers" Ray McWade, Steve Nyman, and Nathan Benedict.
Donations in his remembrance may be made to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Petter, we will miss you forever, but ohh what a party it will be when we are all together again!
