Northwest comedy/varietè artists to present
Northwest artists of Seattle's comedy/varietè Moisture Festival are performing holiday benefit shows at Hale's Palladium (4301 Leary Way NW, Seattle) on December 9 & 10, 2005, to raise money to bring in comedy/varietè stars from around the U.S. and the world to perform in the third annual Moisture Festival (March 21-April 9, 2006).
Proceeds from the benefit shows will be used to fly in and house artists like last year's Moisture Festival hits - Berlin's Hacki Ginda, San Francisco's Frank Olivier, Austin's Magical Mystical Michael, Maine's Avner the Eccentric, Eugene's Rhys Thomas and others. These artists' talent greatly contributed to selling-out 13 shows of last year's festival. The Moisture Festival will also donate a portion of the proceeds to the Fremont Public Association's Broadview Shelter for Women and Children.
Comedy/varietè describes live, rapid-fire performances of circus arts, music, singing, aerial acts, dancing, vaudeville bits, juggling, and, above all, the unexpected. The Northwest has a wealth of these artists. Featured at the benefit shows will be members of Circus Contraption, UMO, Du Caniveaux, the Fremont Players, Seattle's premier aerialists the Aerialistas, and more.
As comedy/varietè popularity grows here and in Europe, the Moisture Festival organizers want Seattle to become the creative hotbed in which Seattleites are the first to take in new works by the world's best comedy/varietè performers.
