California: More anti-LGBTQ states added to list
Reuters reported June 28 on California's recent ban on state-funded, nonessential travel to Arkansas, Florida, Montana, North Dakota, and West Virginia over the five states' collective string of laws that discriminate against the LGBTQ community. California has kept a list of 12 states with anti-LGBTQ legislation since 2016, and added these additional five on the anniversary of the Stonewall riots.

State Dept. adds more gender options to passports
reported on June 30 that the State Department will be taking steps to add more gender marker options to US passports for intersex, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming citizens. The State Department also plans to revise US passport applications to allow self-selection of gender identity, without medical clearance that the applicant is transitioning, even if the gender on their passport wouldn't match other official documents.
