London: It's a Sin star leads in BBC New Year's concert
The BBC reported on December 31 on Olly Alexander's BBC One concert, and the Gay 31-year-old singer's feelings about the event. "I feel very lucky to be doing it," Alexander said. "It's such an honor to bring in the new year with everyone watching. I feel very privileged and excited." Yet Alexander also admitted he felt nervous; last year's performance by Alicia Keys in Los Angeles had low ratings in the United Kingdom, although this was, according to inews, because both the show and the singer were based outside the country. Alexander was joined by both Australian singer Kylie Minogue and the English synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys, all of whom Alexander described as "legends."

Mexico: "Kiss-a-thon" protest at Six Flags
The Advocate reported on January 3 that a protest was held in response to an incident at Six Flags Mexico on December 29, in which a Queer couple was reprimanded by the park's director for kissing. The protest gained traction when a friend of the couple tweeted about the incident, saying the park director falsely claimed that regulations prohibited displays of affection in order to protect a "family environment." The tweet has since garnered around 20,000 retweets and 44,000 likes. The ensuing bestón, or kiss-a-thon, involved protestors holding rainbow flags and kissing in front of the park's entrance. Six Flags Mexico has since issued a statement saying it has removed the policy that "addresses affectionate behavior" and that the whole situation was a "misunderstanding."
