Biden announces first Gay White House counsel
NBC News reported on June 15 that White House deputy counsel Stuart Delery will be promoted next month, becoming the first openly LGBTQ+ person to serve as White House counsel, President Biden announced.

Delery broke through barriers in 2012 as well, becoming acting associate attorney general in the Justice Department — the highest-ranking LGBTQ official in the department's history. He has argued against the Defense of Marriage Act, a law that aimed to ban legal recognition of same-sex marriages. The law was overturned.

NBC put the announcement in the context of the Biden administration's appointment of other LGBTQ officials, like Karine Jean-Pierre, the first openly Gay person appointed to the position of press secretary, and Admiral Rachel Levine, the first openly Trans person confirmed by the Senate to a federal post.

Musk's daughter changes name, rebukes relation
Reuters reported on June 20 that Elon Musk's daughter, who is Trans, has filed a request to change her name not just to fit her gender identity but because "I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form."

The daughter of the tech billionaire filed the paperwork for the change in Santa Monica in April, recent online reports discovered. Her new name was redacted from public court documents, and little is yet known about the falling out between Musk and his daughter.

Reuters added that in May, about a month after the documents were filed, Musk announced his support for the Republican Party, which has consistently targeted Trans rights across the country. Back in 2020, Musk commented on Twitter, "I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare."
