Beverly Hills: First Trans win at the Golden Globes
NBC News reported on January 9 that Michaela Jaé (Mj) Rodriguez has made history by winning the Golden Globe for best actress in a drama, making her the first Trans actor to win a Golden Globe. She was also the first Transgender actor nominated for a lead-acting Emmy. Rodriguez won the award for her role in Pose. Rodriguez commented on the win on Sunday: "Wow! You talking about a sick birthday present!" she wrote on Instagram. "This is... going to open the door for so many more young talented individuals." NBC contributing writer Kait Hanson noted that other actors in Pose, a show with the largest Trans cast for a scripted series, have voiced their disappointment that the show hasn't received more award recognition.

Texas: Ted Cruz's daughter comes out as Bisexual
LGBTQ Nation reported on January 10 that Caroline Cruz, daughter of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, has come out as Bisexual and decried her father's political views on TikTok. She has also added pronouns to her bio, told a story about her parents digitally editing a family Christmas photo to make her crop top look longer, and said that her father doesn't know about her sexual orientation. LGBTQ Nation noted the stark contrast between this development and Ted Cruz's history as "one of the most vociferously anti-LGBTQ members of Congress."
