Nevada: Enriquez eliminated, still a champion
NBC reported on November 29 that Kataluna Enriquez, the first openly Trans contestant in the Miss USA pageant, has been eliminated before the round of 16 of the competition. Enriquez's fans were dismayed at the development, but her home state of Nevada is reportedly celebrating her as a champion. Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak tweeted, "Kataluna represents the best of our community and our state, and when she takes the stage, she'll make history!" Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) said Enriquez was already making history, and "I couldn't think of anyone better to represent the Silver State."

United States: US-linked conversion therapists exposed
LGBTQ Nation reported November 29 on a group of investigative journalists who exposed a two therapists' practice of conversion therapy by posing as Gay and Lesbian people. The therapists were based in Costa Rica, but they were reportedly "linked" to two US organizations: Focus on the Family and the Exodus Global Alliance. Focus on the Family was founded in 1977 by conservative psychologist and Mike Pence idol James Dobson. The Exodus Global Alliance is the international wing of the American ex-Gay group Exodus International. Both therapists were certified under typical Costa Rican law.
