Philadelphia Gay News on April 28 summarized a Center for Disease Control (CDC) report on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the country, which have now reached record highs for the last two decades for six years in a row. The CDC suggests that disparities in sex ed, testing, and other resources may be to blame—especially as they affect LGBTQ+ people and people of color, who have been consistently disadvantaged in the health care system. Men who had sex with men were shown to have been disproportionately affected by STIs, though all groups have had a significant increase in cases.

The Guardian on May 2 reported that Caitlyn Jenner has revealed that she opposes transgender girls in girls' school sports. In an interview in a Malibu parking lot, Jenner framed the issue as a matter of "protecting girls' sports," and that it was "a question of fairness," with little else to say thus far. The Guardian noted, in light of this development, that the International Federation of Sports Science "said data is scant on the advantages or otherwise of trans athletes, but that each sport need[s] rules to meet its own physical demands.
