Broadway was packed on Saturday last weekend for Capitol Hill PrideFest. Despite that, it was an intimate experience, in which both young and old came together in a place rich with Queer history.

As always, the outfits were colorful and diverse. Leather straps and steel rings were only slightly more popular than fursuits this year, though many more pedestrians dusted off their shorts and T-shirts for a sunny day that lasted well into the evening hours, as summer days do at this latitude.

Local performers, such as drag queen Kylie Mooncakes, the dance group BlackHotSunday, and DJ Solanna Solstice, kept the party moving, along with hosts Aleksa Manila and Donatella Howe.

Queer and allied vendors and organizations lined the street wherever there was room. Many of the bars and restaurants had gated-off zones where alcohol was allowed, and though business was booming, most patrons seemed well capable of holding their liquor.

Among the vendors was the SGN, of course. Many more of our readers got to meet the team this year as we handed out our stickers and our special Pride issue, and sold our booth-exclusive SGN T-shirts.
