On June 4, 31-year-old Christopher Leahy was scheduled, but refused to attend, his arraignment on charges of murder in the first degree with a deadly weapon in a King County Superior courtroom. Leahy is accused of killing 19-year-old Trans woman and UW student Juniper Blessing, who suffered 40+ stab wounds before bleeding to death in her off-campus student housing laundry room according to the King County Medical Examiner.

Leahy’s defense counsel was granted a request for a competency evaluation by King County Superior Judge Nelson Lee. They requested that Leahy be sent to Western State for observation and evaluation for the next three weeks. The next hearing was tentatively scheduled for June 25.
