Washington DC: First out Gay ambassador
NBC News reported July 9 on the Biden administration's nomination of Chantale Wong, who stands to be the first out Lesbian with the rank of ambassador. Wong promised, should the Senate confirm her appointment, to "serve with humility and [with] the purpose of advancing US interest[s]...on behalf of [her] fellow Americans." NBC noted Wong's past work as a videographer for "congressional civil rights pilgrimages" in Alabama with the late Georgia Democrat Rep. John Lewis, whom Wong cited as an inspiration.
