Kentucky: Christian music festival rejects Christian adoption agency
LGBTQ Nation reported on July 31 that the 40 Days and 40 Nights Christian Music Festival canceled its sponsorship of a Christian adoption agency after learning that the agency has worked with LGBTQ people in the past. The festival is run by Answers in Genesis, a group based out of the Creation Museum in Petersburg. In the style of Nation's "Bias Watch" articles, writer Juwan J. Holmes made the point that the music festival was still happening in Kentucky in the midst of a pandemic that has hit the state particularly hard.
Grant Park, Chicago: DaBaby canceled at Lollapalooza
NBC News reported August 1 on music festival Lollapalooza's choice to cancel DaBaby's performances, after the rapper made homophobic remarks during a performance at the Rolling Loud music festival in Miami. Although DaBaby has since apologized on Twitter, Lollapalooza representatives said in a statement about the decision that the festival was "founded on diversity, inclusivity, respect, and love."
